We are so excited to announce that Wonqi Rose will be performing at Chill Fest!
If you’re looking for a straight line, you’re looking at the wrong person. Wonqi Rose is a connoisseur of sounds from every corner of the planet, whether it’s digging deep to shed light on the freshest tracks or creating a journey from the comfortable to the bazaar. Her audiences are engaged with bewitching performances, expressed through the realms of enriched sound. Massively influenced by hip hop, urban style and that mad underground gangsta flavour, Wonqi takes this and fuses it with a dash of the deep and dark, yet holds it all together with the most exquisite and catholic of sounds. The backbone of the Wonqi Rose experience always remains the bass. Delving through varied styles and genres, her eclectic taste will have you immersed in an array of tasteful of sounds that resonate with her on a bass level.
This Australian born Rose spent her formative years in the South of England, where the music reverberating at the iconic festivals of 2008 planted a seed and her love of bass music was born. However, it was Melbourne’s underground scene that took that seed, planted it firmly and allowed it to blossom in 2014, when her musical career began. Her passion for music guiding her, Wonqi Rose will search endlessly to find that particular sound, be it the tireless hours spent in the musical world online, or meeting just the right person to share or collaborate with. In just a short time, her journey of dedication and inspiration has proven Wonqi Rose to be one of the most driven acts among the scene. This drive has lead to her working with some of Melbourne’s most forward thinking crews, including: The Operatives, Twisted Audio, Uncomfortable Beats, Off the Record, Whomp Music, Electro Swing Club Australia, Oscillate, Culture Jam, Rubix Arthouse, The Brink, Free Dope, The MakeShift Collective and Signal to name just a few.
It has been an explosive couple of years, seeing Wonqi Rose collaborate with other influential artists, including JPS, Dub Princess and Miss Money Toast, and has been invited to perform at various respected music festivals including Wide Open Space, Earth Frequency, Rainbow Serpent, Let Them Eat Cake, The Town, Yemaya, Tanglewood, Manifest, Pitch, Earthcore, Falls and more. Wonqi has also had the honour of supporting some of her own personal favourite international artists including Arkaik, Dub Phizix, DLR, Chimpo, J:Kenzo, ill.Gates, Dov1, The Stanton Warriors, A.Skillz, and the Funk Hunters.
Whether inspired by alternative culture, the simplicity of nature, captivating art or the movement of the crowd, Wonqi Rose is sure to bring her authentic brand of bass to flavour the silence in the most imaginative and enticing way…
